Weather & what to expect
Bosphorus cruises run all year, and the weather rarely stops them. Boats have both an open deck and a covered indoor area, so you stay comfortable whatever the sky is doing. Here is what to expect in different conditions and what happens if the weather turns bad.
Cruises run in most weather
Light rain and cool days are not a problem, as you can move inside to the covered, and in winter heated, seating. The open deck may close in heavy rain or strong wind for safety, but the cruise still sails and you watch from indoors.
Rain, wind, and cold
- Light rain: fine, thanks to the covered indoor area
- Strong wind: the open deck may close for safety, while the cruise continues
- Cold and winter: the indoor area is heated, but dress warm for time on deck
- Summer evenings: still breezy on the water, so bring a light layer

If the weather is too bad
In rare cases of storms, heavy snow, or unsafe seas, the operator may cancel for safety. If that happens, you are told in advance and offered an alternative date or a full refund. See if the operator cancels and our free cancellation policy.
Will I get seasick?
It is unlikely. The Bosphorus is a sheltered strait rather than open sea, so the water is usually calm and the ride is smooth. If you are prone to motion sickness, bring tablets and sit toward the middle of the boat. See what to bring.
